JCMAP heavily engages property and community groups in the artist selection process. Once an artist applies, our JCMAP team keeps a presentation of your work on file. As walls become available, we share these presentations with stakeholders we’re working with on any given project who ultimately makes the final artist selection.

Ultimately in order for JCMAP to commission a mural project, we must have explicit permission from the property owner. However, feel you have identified an ideal mural canvas, please email us at jcmap@jcnj.org so we may inquire.
JCMAP is funded through a clean communities grant awarded through the state of NJ.
No. JCMAP is strictly an outdoor public art program with the goal of mitigating blight and graffiti while harnessing all of the benefits public art brings. JCMAP cannot fund or organize inheritor murals. However, we are happy to share contact information with any of the mural artists we’ve worked with.
Our season typically runs from March through November.
We have printed copies of the mural map in City Hall, 280 Grove St, Jersey City, NJ 07302. Please note this is not the most up to date record of our murals, as we are constantly putting up more murals. The best way to see is an updated map is the 'Our Murals' section on this website, or using the CANVS app (currently available on iPhone only).
You may purchase a book from photographer, Kurt Boone, who documented the mural festival in 2021. Please note, none of the proceedes from the purchase of Kurt's book goes to JCMAP. Kurt documented and published the book in his own time and resources. Click here to purchase your copy.
